I walked past a man with the smallest yarmulke I had ever seen. I started to wonder: does Jewish law mandate the minimum size for a man’s head covering? Must yarmulkes be round, or would squares or even octagons qualify? Can they be in colors or patterns, or heaven forbid, could they glitter? I could simply Google this, like every other question that comes to mind, or I could ask a religious friend. I could find the answer in a minute, but today I decide not to look. Answers are too much with us. I don’t want to lose the wonder.
